

Shirley Mae (Ewing) Harrison was born Feb. 8, 1939. She was the 12th child of Melvin Milo Ewing and Domenica (Fanganiello) Ewing. Shirley attended Beach Court Grade School, Horace Mann Jr. High here in Colorado, and Dixon and Eligin High Schools in Illinois. She graduated in the top 5th of her graduating class of 1,000 in 1957. She continued her education at Moody Bible Institute from 1958 to 1960 in Chicago, Illinois and graduated in 1960. She went to Colorado State College (now called Northern University of Colorado) in Greeley, Colorado in 1961.
Shirley worked at miscellaneous companies for three years, 25 years at Auto Dealers both on Colorado and in California, and another 25 years for government and county agencies such as: Small Business Administration, Adams County, and Jefferson County. She retired from Jefferson County in 2004.
Shirley married Robert Wayne Harrison in 1975. She was active in churches from the age of 16 through the rest of her life. She sang solos, traveled with a quartet called the "Blue Horizons," she sang in choirs, taught Sunday School, was church treasurer, and volunteered in a card ministry; sending cards to the sick, shut-ins, and the bereaved.
She loved crafts of many sorts: crocheting, ceramics, beading, embroidery, Swedish weaving (Huck weaving), decorating sweatshirts, and tee shirts.
Her most rewarding accomplishment was writing, and compiling a family book for her family which included, each brother and sister writing their own life story. She called the book, "Please Pass the Dandelions" and issued 60 copies to family members. She also wrote a book for her own pleasure called, "Paws of Love" that were stories of all her pets.
She had many collective items-one was broaches, and she enjoyed wearing a different broach nearly every day.
Shirley is survived by: her brother Milo (Helen) Ewing, of Colorado; a sister-in-law Peggy (Dallas) Cress, of Colorado; a stepson Robert (Brenda) Harrison Jr., of Colorado; a stepdaughter Laura Jones, of Texas; a stepgrandson Roy Brannin, of Colorado; another stepgrandson Adam (Jennifer) Kiefer, of Colorado; and many step great grandchildren, of Colorado; also nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
