Shirley Marie Martinez

Our beloved mother Shirley M Martinez passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025 at the age of 82. She was surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Shirley was survived by her three children Geraldine, Lisa Avila (Chris), and Eric Martinez. As well as her grandchildren Jessica Avila (Fabian), Shiloh Avila, Christopher Jr Avila (Byanka), Michael Avila (Giselle), Eric Martinez Jr, Dante Martinez, and Gabriel Martinez. Shirley is also survived by her numerous nieces and nephews. She was born on April 10, 1943 to Frank and Della Martinez and was the youngest of 7 children. She grew up on the west part of Denver at 756 Navajo St. She attended St Joseph Catholic School all the way up to middle school, and went to Denver West High School for a short period of time. Shirley chose to be a stay at home mom to her three children, a decision that shaped all of our lives. Her home was definitely the heart of our family. She poured her love into every moment and the endless support she gave was a gift to us all. She enjoyed her time making endless beautiful memories with her grandchildren. Her legacy is one of pure unconditional love, and her spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

A funeral service for Shirley will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Presentation of Our Lady, 695 Julian St, Denver, CO 80204. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
