Susan Marie Coleman

April 15, 1948July 17, 2021

Susan Marie Coleman (Commerce City, CO) passed away on July 17, 2021. She was born in Cleveland, OH in 1948. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob & Dorothy Schmies, and her niece, Karey Gengler. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Paul Coleman, her four children: Bill Coleman (Marie Coleman), Jamie Nein (Marc Nein), Paula Scott (Adam Scott) and David Coleman, her most prized possessions, her eight grandchildren: Katie Coleman, Derek Coleman, Evan Coleman, Carson Coleman, Aiden Scott, Alex Nein, Brayden Nein, and Ruby Scott, her sister Karyn Carosella (Dave) and brother Ken Schmies (Carolyn), numerous nieces and nephews and her chocolate Lab, Charlie dog.

Above all, she was an amazing mother, caring wife, loving grandmother, and wonderful friend, serving as a consistent source of strength for all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by many, but her legacy lives on through all of those that she loved and entertained throughout her life.

Sue had a passion for reading, decorating for every holiday, shopping (sales/coupons), coffee, everything Wizard of Oz, chocolate candy molds, nutcrackers, sunflowers, silly socks, but first and foremost, loved her family and friends. If you were lucky enough to receive a card from Sue, you enjoyed the confetti that spilled out of the envelope (even if it didn’t match the occasion).

She was known for her infectious smile and laugh, kind spirit, caring soul, and giving and thoughtful personality. She acted as a second mom to many friends of her children. She was the most selfless person, always looking to give you something you enjoyed. You never left the Coleman house empty handed.

Sue handled her life graciously and will be remembered for fighting through breast cancer and all her other countless surgeries like the strongest women alive. She was a donor and continued to contribute to others, even after her life ended.

If you would like to send flowers, please send to: Olinger Funeral, Cremation and Cemetery - Highland: 10201 Grant St. Thornton, CO 80229.

If Sue touched your life in any way, please join us to remember her.

Visitation/Viewing will be held on Monday, July 26th from 5:00-7:30pm at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church: 10785 Melody Dr. Northglenn, CO 80234.

Bill, I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was such a blessing to so many. I'll never forget her "never ending spaghetti dinners " at your house during playbook study sessions. A donation has been made in her memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

I have always considered it a blessing to be a part of the extended Schmies/Barrett family through marriage. Such lovely and caring people; I’m so sad to hear that Sue is gone from this planet far too soon.
God bless your family and may you find joy and comfort in memories of her.

The best person to enjoy a cup of coffee with.
Great memory is playing Beer Ping with Sue on her 60th birthday. I was winning, she pulled ahead and won. Jamie yelledYESSSS!
Sitting with Sue at her Chemo treatments with Sharon. The three Amigos. We were there to support her but she was the party planner and lifted our spirts with her bravery and showed us that “EVERY LITTLE THING WAS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT.”
Our After Thanksgiving shopathons every year, Sue , Sharon and I, topped off with pie and coffee.
I loved how she talked to her “CHARLIE”.
Sharon and I will carry on but it will never be the same without Sue. Miss you my friend.
