Tamayo Terada lived a life filled with resilience, love, and strength. Born in Hawaii, she was the second oldest of six siblings. At the age of 14, she embarked on a journey to Hiroshima, Japan, to pursue her education with the support of her parents.
Four years later, in 1945, she endured and survived the historic atomic bombing of Hiroshima- a moment displaying her incredible perseverance in the face of tragedy, loss, and trauma.
Despite the incredible hardships that followed, Tamayo found her way to the 5th Air Force Command in Nagoya, Japan, where she met the love of her life, Isami Terada. Their love story grew from there and led them back to Hawaii, where they married on July 17, 1948.
In the early 1950s, Tamayo and Isami relocated to Colorado, where they proceeded to raise three children and build a life full of warmth and devotion surrounded by family and friends.
Her beloved husband preceded her in death in 2020, yet the legacy they created together continues to thrive. Tamayo is survived by her children - Linda Terada, Leslie Terada, and Glenn Terada (wife Deborah) - as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her strength, unwavering love, and timeless wisdom.
Tamayo's life and legacy stands as a testament to her enduring personal resilience and resolute devotion to her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in peace.
