Thomas Edward Makris

Thomas E. "Tom" Makris, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025. He was 87 years old. Tom was born on July 4, 1937 at home in Fredrick, Colorado, to the late Samuel and Gertrude (Drennan) Makris.

In 1960, Tom married Carol Jean Dodds. Tom and Carol were married for 65 years and were blessed with two children.

The Makris family moved to Lafayette, Colorado, where Tom attended the Lafayette Schools. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1955. Tom soon joined the United States Army. After two years he was honorably discharged and started working for F.R.Orr Construction, where he stayed for 26 years. Tom later worked for Haselden Construction until his retirement.

Tom and Carol enjoyed traveling and took a lot of beautiful trips.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Tom of Northglenn, CO and Tim and his wife, Carrie of Naperville, IL, and granddaughter, Leia.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his siblings, Ann and George.

A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held 4:00pm, Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229, followed by a reception gathering, also at Olinger Highland.
