Victor Erwin Conover passed away the afternoon of July 26th, 2021 in Aurora Colorado at the age of 61. Victor was born to Vicki and Dale Conover, in Denver, Colorado on December 20th, 1959 at Saint Anthony’s Central Hospital where he was the first of five siblings. He attended Saint Johnsville High School and was notably voted “Most likely to be in Einstein’s laboratory” in his high school yearbook. Victor spent his senior year of high school at Denver University studying physics and chemistry. It is there where he met Afsaneh Afkham, and they soon moved to Norman Oklahoma and were married. He became certified as a master plumber, electrician, and HVAC specialist, and began working on residential and commercial projects around the state of Oklahoma. Together Victor and Afsaneh had their son Shwan in 1985 at Norman Regional Hospital.
Victor enjoyed politics on both a national and local scale. He ran for city council seats as well as mayoral positions, most notably in 1995 when Victor ran against incumbent Mayor Bill Nations for the position, where he built a campaign off improving infrastructure and love for the people in his community. His campaign slogan read “Vote for me. It will look good on my resume.” Unfortunately, his campaign would end at the polls, but he continued to serve people diligently and proudly through his work and friendship. Above all Victor loved his friends and family and found ways to connect with those around him. He was an exceptional chess player and loved to play cards, most notably poker and cribbage. He loved gardening, where one of his proudest achievements was his stunning rose garden. He cultivated not only roses, but many other variations of flowers and herbs. In 1997, Victor and Afsaneh amicably divorced, and Victor moved back to Denver, where he continued to work as a contractor. It was Victor’s greatest joy to help others, and his words and actions will continue to impact those around him long after his passing.
Victor is proceeded in death by his mother, Vicki Hladysz, and is survived by his son Shwan Conover, father Dale Conover, sisters Norma Clark, Becky Holloway, Christina Tharp, and Lisa Mullen, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were considered and loved as family. Victor Conover’s family will be hosting a visitation and viewing on Thursday, August 5th, 2021, at 4:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and a memorial and graveside service on Friday, August 6th, 2021 , at 1:00p.m. with a reception to follow at Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery – Highland at 0201 North Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
