Virginia "Ginny" Lee Hurd was born on February 3, 1937, and passed away on March 13, 2021. Ginny's life was full of family, love, music, dancing, travel, and 1000's of photos to prove it all. Ginny had 3 sons, Dave, Ron, and Gene whom she adored dearly. When the boys were young, she and Bob loved to travel with their truck and camper to National Parks, lakes, and just about anywhere to camp, boat and fish.
Later in life, Ginny enjoyed the nightlife of little cities with big lights and casinos. She enjoyed traveling to Laughlin and Mesquite with Bucky and then later she took several lovely trips with her son Ron. Her favorite was to sit at a penny or nickel machine until her $20 was gone.
When she wasn’t traveling, she enjoyed her morning ritual of coffee and toast with her sister Carol, and then they were off to work outside on landscaping projects, painting projects, and tidying up the yard to create an oasis for all. Ginny loved to shop at any thrift store she could find and on special dates with those she loved, she would take them to browse at her favorite store.
Ginny also enjoyed the warm weather of Arizona in the winter, where she resided as a snowbird. She met many wonderful people in her living community and took great pride in her home in Mesa. Her home in Gypsum Colorado was her sanctuary where she had several wind chimes and decorations that made her home feel cheerful.
Ginny's family hat tree was full of many hats. Among a few, she was a daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, grandma, great-grandma, friend, and even an Uncle Ginny to one little great-nephew. Ginny loved and cared for a countless number of people, and one way she showed her love was by mailing cards for every birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and sometimes just because. She did this to remind everyone of how special they were to her even if she didn't get to see them or talk to them often.
Ginny loved to play card games, ladder golf, and Farkle with her family and friends. After she scored high, she would always say "I didn't mean to do that" with a giggle and a smile. Which always resulted in the family picking on her with great laughter.
Ginny attended church at Grace Fellowship where she loved Jesus deeply, enjoyed the company of the congregation, and formed a lasting friendship with Pastor Austin, who visited her when he could during her stay at Castle Peak. Ginny's life was captured with 1000's of photos and memories of a life well-lived. She loved hard, played hard, and will be missed by all who knew her.
