Whitfield, Virginia Lazarita, born July 25, 1927 in Denver, CO, passed away May 25, 2020; a retired Nabisco bakery employee, who loved Shirley Temple and dancing, especially tap dancing. She would break out the tap shoes at her assisted living home on occasion. She loved music and would sing along to a variety of songs. You could always find her toes tapping to the beat.Virginia had a great green thumb as well. She had spent a lot of time with her dad outside as a kid, and it carried over for the majority of her life. She could be found outside working in the yard on almost any given day, and her roses, tulips and hyyacinths in the spring would totally showcase her green thumb. She also loved to go up the hill when she was able to. She had a knack for knowing when a slot machine would “hit”. She has a whole photo collection of her and her winnings. She may not have always said it, but she loved her family very much. She spent a lot of time with her sisters Lucille, and in her earlier years bowling with her sister Vivian. They would go on trips together and have a great time seeing the world. She was a quiet person, especially in large groups, She would just sit back and take it all in.We will truly miss this tiny but mighty woman. She had seen and experienced a lot of things in her life of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Whitfield, sisters Anne Perez, Helen Dahl, Vivian Leyba, Marcella Gallegos and Lucille Passarelli and parents Thomasita Gallegos and Candalario Gallegos and is survived by her daughter Gina Lantz (Joseph), grandchildren Jeremy Lantz, Joshua Lantz, Jessica Moskul and her brother Jim Gallegos.
