Wanda was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on January 1, 1930, the second child and first daughter of Chester Roe and Beulah Beatrice (Allen) Smith. Her parents, her brothers, and her sister preceded her in death: Clinton Roe, Roberta Joann Echols, Chester Theodore (Ted), and Gale Dean (Pete).
She married James Hutchison in 1949. They lived most of their married life in Manitou Springs, where they raised their three children. Unfortunately, their dream of a life of happiness was not realized, and the marriage ended in divorce. In 1968 Wanda married Gerald Lynn Rotz, the love of her life. They lived happily in Thornton, Colorado, until Lynn’s death in 2010. Wanda is survived by her three children and their spouses – Trudy Joann and Timothy Turner, Nancy Lucille and Dennis Walker, and James Kenneth and Linda Hutchison. She also leaves two granddaughters, two step-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
Her health declined slowly in her last years, but she continued to live independently and loved her home. Her beautiful spirit and her Faith kept her going strong until the very end. She never complained, and never doubted that her reward for a life well lived was waiting for her in the Kingdom of Heaven. Her one wish that she mentioned many times during her last days was that all of us would follow her in Faith so that we would all be together again. We believe that she is now reunited with those who have gone before her, and that she is waiting to welcome home with rejoicing those who are left behind.
We love you, Mother. Our prayers have been answered – your sickness is gone. You can walk without pain and dance with joy! We will miss you every minute of our lives, but we know we will be reunited one day and will spend Eternity loving and worshiping together.
