Zachariah Devere Mathews

Zach was always a happy kid and he greatly loved his 2 brothers.  Being the 3rd born, Zach frequently claimed he was the “forgotten child” which we always disputed.  At the early age of 6, Zach accepted Jesus Christ as his own personal Savior after being led to the Lord by his mother following Vacation Bible School.

Zach attended Maranatha Christian School and graduated in 2007.  He enjoyed playing football there as a receiver and his senior year he caught the last touchdown pass of the season.  He worked many different jobs until he settled into an enjoyable career working at Allcable where he was the Operations Manager.

Zach passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, July 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Wayne Mathews, paternal grand parents, Wayne & Muriel Mathews, maternal grandfather, Richard E Jones, a cousin, Kassandra C Mathews, and a few other relatives.

Zach is survived by his parents, Rod & Patsy Mathews, a brother, Jon (Rowena) Mathews; nephews Joel, Bennett, Ellis, and baby boy Mathews arriving this fall; nieces Brooke and Delaney Mathews; maternal grandmother, Jean Jones, and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
