
Born on June 18, 1934, in Longview, WA, Alma was the third of four children born to Ted and Martha Schierscher. She graduated from RA Long High School and attended Lower Columbia College before marrying the love of her life, Donald James Allen, on February 21, 1953, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Alma and Donald moved with their young family to Tigard, OR, in 1958, where they became active members of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and their four children attended St. Anthony School.
Alma worked at Code-A-Phone from 1958 until her retirement. She was dedicated to her community, serving as an active volunteer in numerous capacities, including: St. Anthony Parish Bingo, St. Anthony Community Cafe, St. Anthony School and CYO athletics, Tigard Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank. Alma was also a constant presence at school programs and sports events, cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren through the years.
Alma is survived by her children: Elizabeth Allen; Victoria Allen O'Brien (Michael O'Brien); Marc Allen (Tami Boatright Allen); and Chris Allen (Erin Stepanek). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Tina Schierscher, and her grandchildren: Thomas O'Brien (Dr. Nancy Prem O'Brien); Caitlin O'Brien Morgan (Willie Morgan); Allison Daly (Jon Johnson); Theodore O'Brien (Alissa Bennett O'Brien); Lauren Allen (Chris Moore); Nick Wilson; Mitchell Allen; Emily Allen del Prado (Eric del Prado); Alexandra Allen; Tanner Allen; and Chelsea Allen. Her great-grandchildren include McKenna Morgan, Casey Morgan, Gabriel O'Brien, and Kerry O'Brien. Alma is also survived by nieces and nephews: Joseph Schierscher, Patricia Prager, Bill Hamilton, Robert B. (Buff) Ruth, Jim Hamilton, Susan Ruth Hackley, Marcie Miller, Debbie Loeffel, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Alma was predeceased by her husband, Donald; her siblings: Tony Schierscher, Maxine Hamilton, and Donna Ruth; her grandson, Christopher Ryan Allen; and her nephew, Charles Anton (Tony) Schierscher, and niece, Jill Marie Ruth.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM, preceded by a Rosary at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, located at 9905 McKenzie Street, Tigard, OR. A reception will follow in St. Francis Hall at the church. A private interment at St. Anthony Cemetery will take place at a later date.
