We are grateful for the opportunity to share some of our fondest memories of the beloved Betty Lou Braich, who died peacefully on July 26, 2012. The youngest of 11 children, Betty was raised on a farm in Gervais, Oregon. After attending Oregon State University, where she met her loving husband of over 60 years, the couple settled in NE Portland. The birth of a daughter and three sons kept Betty on her toes in the years to follow. In addition to the countless meals cooked, baseball games attended, and uniforms sewed, Betty made time to volunteer with numerous organizations. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, rock collecting, and had a special fondness for Christmas decorations of all sorts. (In fact, Betty once hung so many ornaments on the family Christmas tree that it toppled over!) Betty accompanied her husband on his many job-related travels around the world, allowing her to amass an extensive smoker collection. However, her most cherished get-away was the annual Braich family trip to Neskowin, on the Oregon Coast. Betty will be remembered for her witty sense of humor, loving actions, kind words of wisdom, and banana chocolate cake. B' Lou is survived by her four children, Janis, Ted, Pat, and David; three daughter-in-laws, Lauri, Rosemary, and Liz; nine grandchildren, Emily (Darren), Ben, Kelly, Molly, Matt, Dillon, Kara, Erin, and Jake; and one great-grandson, Nolan. We love you, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint John Fisher school or Central Catholic High School.
