

Betty was born on January 23, 1922 in Chandler, Arizona. She graduated from Kern County Union High School in Bakersfield, CA. Following her graduation, she worked for the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office and later at Shell Oil Company in Bakersfield.
Betty married Richard Benjamin “Dick” Price on May 1, 1943 at Camp Grant, IL beginning a union of 66 years highlighted by a golden anniversary celebration at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco and a 60th anniversary celebration with family and friends in Lake Oswego.
Following Dick’s return from Europe at the conclusion of World War II, Betty and Dick first settled in Lindsay, CA with subsequent stays in Bakersfield, CA, Concord, CA, Sylvania, OH, Fort Madison, IA, Fresno, CA and Lake Oswego, OR.
For many years, Betty was an avid and highly knowledgeable collector of antiques. She and Dick enjoyed many antique buying trips in New England as well rummaging through old barns and garages on the back roads of Ohio, Iowa and California. In Fresno, Betty opened Collector’s Den, a charming antique shop she successfully operated for 20 years.
Betty was an avid reader throughout her life, often “inhaling” entire books at a single sitting. She was a close follower of current events and politics and, as such, was an engaging conversationalist.
She will be long remembered for her twinkling eyes and beautiful smile as well as her kindness, generosity and loyalty to family and friends. In over 90 years, there were so many, many people whose lives were enhanced by the touch of this remarkable life.
Betty is survived by her children, Craig Price and his wife, Pat Van Orman-Price and Keith Price and his wife Vicki Price; grandchildren, Ben Price and his wife Jordan Price, and Ava Price; great grandchild, Ellie Price.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 22nd at Willamette National Cemetery (11800 SE Mt. Scott Boulevard Portland, OR 97086-6937 (503) 273-5250).
