

Cecelia “Jane” McDonald Johnson was one of 13 children born to John and Ruby McDonald. She grew up in Graettinger, Iowa where she played basketball and played the French horn for the high school. She met and married Duane Johnson on April 3, 1940. They moved to Seaside, OR in the 1940's and then to Portland, OR and raised their four children: Linda, Barbara, Robert and Marc. Jane received her B.A. Degree from Marylhurst college and did some substitute teaching in the Portland Public Schools. She was very active in her church including choir, church librarian, historian, women's group, and an active member of Gideon's International. She also was a member of the Portland Branch of the National League of American Pen Women. She wrote numerous poems and was a published poet. She also was a member of the Lake Oswego Quilters and made over 100 beautiful quilts for her family and friends. She was grandmother to Jon, Laura, Sean, Bjorn, Gracey, Clint, Clay, and Cody and great grandmother to Sianna, Oliver, Sohali, and Ilahee. She belonged to a square dancing and Irish dancing group. Her interests and accomplishments were many and her love never ending to her family and friends. She will surely be missed by us all. A Graveside Service will be held on July 19, 2021, 1:00 pm at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, OR 97086. Please arrive at Willamette no later than 12:30 pm to begin gathering in the parking lot.
