Connie May (Bruce) Middleton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Connie was born to be an educator. From an early age she knew that she wanted to be a teacher. Her passion for education took her from Salt Lake City, Utah to Glasgow, Scotland where a chance encounter at a house party led her to the love of her life, John Middleton. Together they built a beautiful life in Portland, Oregon.
In Oregon, she was an elementary teacher at Oregon Episcopal School and Metzger Elementary. She loved making learning come alive for her students including turning her classroom into a simulated space station. She was known for being a creative and generous teaching partner.
Outside of the classroom, Connie loved nothing more than being around her family. After retiring, she enjoyed taking beach trips and being involved with her local church until her health restricted her activities.
More than anything, she loved her husband of 50 years, John. Their love and care for each other inspired all those around them.
She is survived by her husband, John; children, Robyn, Andrew and Lindsey and their spouses, Kemp, Lisa and Jared; beloved grandchildren, Gavin, Keawe, Keoni and Harper; brothers, William and Peter; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Nan; and nephews and nieces in Scotland.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations in her memory be made to Community Action of Washington County, 1001 SW Baseline Street, Hillsboro, OR 97123.
A graveside service for Constance will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crescent Grove Cemetery, 9925 SW Greenburg Rd, Tigard, OR 97223.
