mother passed away at the age of 66.
Cindy, as her family and friends knew her, was born in Madisonville, Kentucky on April 6, 1954
to “Willie” Theodore Garrett Jr, and Rosemary Garrett. Her formative years were in Detroit,
Michigan where she graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1973, and then attended
Welsh College (Formerly Free Will Baptist Bible College) in Nashville, Tennessee where she met
Larry Charles Carr. They were married May 25, 1974, then moved to Southern California and
she focused her full time energies on raising three precocious sons.
Cindy’s passion in life was serving others and she sign posted her years with medical aid trips
to Honduras and Nepal. She was passionate about the theatre and was often featured in
church plays. She loved nursing and worked in Oncology where her heart for serving others
brought comfort to many.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father Bill, and mother Rosemary. She is survived by her
husband Larry, her children Chad (his spouse, Natasha), Christopher (Brandon) and Joel, her
grandson Ethan and her sisters and best friends Nancy and Terri. Cindy has a large and loving
extended family including her cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom she counted as her
‘kin’.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at Skyline Memorial Gardens,
1100 am and flowers can be sent to 4101 NW Skyline Blvd, Portland, OR 97229. Donations
commemorating her life may be sent in support of ongoing missions work in Nepal to the
Adhikary Nepal personal Evangelical Friends Mission (EFM) Page by mailing a check ‘in
