Fausto was born in Caporciano, Italy in 1926, to Benedetto and Paolina Baiocco. When he was 24 years old, he left his family and country and immigrated to Canada seeking a better life for himself and his future family.
In 1952 he married his childhood friend, Paola DiVincenzo, who had immigrated to Oregon several years before. With determination, hard work, and faith, they built a life together that lasted 55 years.
Fausto and his wife had season tickets to the Portland Opera for many years and enjoyed dancing. They belonged to the Sons of Italy and Happy Time Clubs for several years. Fausto was also a member of the Italian Businessmen’s Club. They were long time members of Holy Cross Parish in North Portland, until their move to Tigard in 1994 where they joined St. Anthony Parish.
Being a true Italian, Fausto argued and loved passionately. He was generous and cared deeply about issues of social justice. Family meant everything to him. And everyone was family.
Fausto is survived by his daughters, Anna Baiocco Druse (Steve), and Rita Baiocco Kester (Scott); grandchildren, Lauren and Cara Druse, Andrea Kester, Brandon (Sierra) Kester and Adam (Kelsey) Kester; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Benson and Brynlee Kester.
He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Benedetto “Benny” Baiocco.
We will miss him tremendously and will forever hold him in our hearts.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to Annabella, Cassie and Jackson for the wonderful care they provided Fausto.
Donations can be made in his memory to Friends of the Children – Portland or Doctors Without Borders – USA.
