Ed was my cousin. His mother Helen was my aunt, my mother Edith was his aunt, and also Helen' s younger sister.  Ed and I were very close while growing up, for a time almost like siblings. But over the last thirteen years we had not been in touch. I only just learned today that he passed away, which affected me. I have realized the older I get (and I am Ed's age) that life is very short and very precious and we should not waste it, but do the best we can with our lives. I often wondered if there was a chance to reconcile,  but now that will never happen. But I do want to express my sympathies to Kiren and to Aaron from this member of Ed's Ohio family. If you ever want to reach out, we will be here. 

Ed was clearly the dominant figure when I joined Lennart Mucke's lab at Scripps in 1993. He was self-made, hard-working and had this incredible intensity with which he approached things. He was also the most gifted researcher at the bench I have met to this day - one could say he was a virtuoso of molecular biology experimentation. I think we really connected at multiple levels and I benefitted tremendously from being able to work with this master and being challenged to do better, faster. I will fondly remember Ed!

Kiren, I am at a loss for words except to say we here are all so sorry for your loss, I have so many good memories hanging out with Ed.  Our thoughts are with you and your family.  RIP Ed.

My favorite memory of Ed is of him tossing Aaron in the air and getting him to laugh and smile bigger and brighter than ever. He always knew when Aaron was having fun, needing more support or a change in activity during OT. I will keep that memory in my mind of him tossing Aaron in the air and getting those big belly laughs from Aaron! What a wonderful dad he was!- Carrie 😊

Ed, I can recall when you moved in next door and you said that my husband was a "jerk" and he said that you were a "jerk". Then you both realized that you had the same headstrong personalities and became good friends. Kiren and I were so happy because we loved each other from the start and wanted both of you to get along. Thank you for all of the incredible cookouts, sharing vacation videos and sing-alongs.  My mother always appreciated you inviting her to your home for the parties. It was such a special outing! And whenever I couldn't find Terry in the home I knew if your garage door was open that he was over there tasting beer with you. Such great times that we had as neighbors and friends that we miss so much.  May God bless you with eternal peace. We will always be here to take care of Kiren and Aaron. We love all of you! 

Ed, I will cherish all of the memories and your friendship. There was no one I’d rather get coffee with every morning. I will miss you my friend. 

Ed invited me to hit baseballs on Petco Park Field.  One of my fondest memories, especially watching Ed and Eliezer play catch.  Thanks for all the great memories.  May you rest in peace.

Ed, I have told this story to you multiple times and we laughed so hard at this, the first time I ever saw and met you at mine and Saran’s wedding I thought you were a waiter there for the venue. I mean talk about not being able to be more wrong about a person. 



We miss you mate, when I first heard the news obviously we were shocked but the first thing that came to my mind when the shock subsided was who would have thought a Punjabi Sikh bloke from Birmingham and a White guy from the Midwest of America would get on as we did, but I guess that’s the reason why we did. It’s because we didn’t see each other as that, we saw each other as brothers. 



I remember when you stayed with us and we even joked to Kiren and Saran that we were more like brothers than they were sisters, I don’t think that went down too well. Although this did come after a full bottle of Vodka had been dealt with by us and the following morning was not pretty, it was one of the best nights I have ever had and I will always cherish that memory of us together. 



I wish I was there for Saran’s favourite memory of you at your wedding, translated punjabi bhangra songs to you and Kyle where the song was saying here hold my keys I am drunk you’ll have to drive and teaching you guys how to dance. She remembers how hilarious you and Kyle found the translations and it is a memory that she will always cherish. 



I am so glad I got to meet you and although it was all too brief you left an impression on all our lives that will stay with us forever and I promise we will do all we can to look after Kiren and Aaron.

Pardeep, Saran, Arjun & the Ubhi Family

I had only known Ed for almost a year. Our family moved to Whistlers Loop and Ed was one of the first of our new neighbors to greet us and made us feel so welcome. I appreciated his ‘straight to the point’ and sarcastic humor. We had that in common. We became friends and had some good times and some good honest conversations. He was so smart and very talented. You should see these wonderful, artistic wooden tables he was making. He was always eager to help or offer his insight. Ed.. you are, and will continue to be, missed. May you Rest In Peace…

Give them hell up there in Heaven and make them some good whiskey Sours with real egg whites!! 

Ed, we will miss you! We were all looking forward to my wedding (whenever that will be!) & how you were going to take the whole month off to celebrate with us! You always made me laugh and I am going to miss you very much. We will look after Kiren & Aaron and be there in spirit tomorrow. Sandeep x

     Ed has been my best friend since we both meet by chance on an airport shuttle and then showed up at the same Navy school afterward.   We have been friends ever since then even after thirty-eight years when we had distance between us, but we always kept in contact.     Ed has been like a brother to me, and I don’t have enough words to express how much I am going to miss him.   I would like to wish my sincere condolences to Kiren and their son Aaron along with Kyle for their loss and hope Ed is at peace now.
