Eli was the type of brother and friend who you could call at any time. He loved with unfailing loyalty and generosity. In his 26 years, he overcame more obstacles than most people have to face in a lifetime. He navigated hardships with a sweet positivity that humbled and inspired everyone who knew him. Intelligent and sincere, Eli never lost compassion for others and hope for the future no matter what life handed him.
Eli was a funny, thoughtful, and confident leader. He touched the lives of many of his coworkers at Amazon, where he worked for 5 years. Eli was a hard worker but always made time for lunches, movie nights, or just sitting around talking about his dream cars. He loved spending time at the shooting range and gym with homies, or adventuring on Minecraft. He enjoyed treating himself and others to good food.
Eli found meaning, comfort, and community in his faith. Eager to learn and improve, Eli dedicated time from his busy days to pray and read the Qur'an. He attended IBECO mosque in Portland, Oregon.
Eli was born in Hilliard, Ohio and ultimately found his home in Portland, where many of his siblings also live. He left behind 8 siblings, their spouses and partners, his nephew, parents, and many relatives and friends. He is also survived by his two beautiful cats, Benny and Mina, to whom he was the most devoted cat dad. He was adored by his family, friends, and coworkers. This unexpected loss is felt heavily by everyone he touched, and he will be carried in their hearts for eternity.
Eli was a passionate advocate for others. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) in his honor.
If you would like to pay respect to Eli, he is laid to rest at the PDX Muslim Cemetery in Portland, OR. Feel free to leave fresh flowers.
