Frederick S. Hakkinen, M.D., passed away peacefully at home Nov. 6, 2021, surrounded by Fritse, his wife of 59 ½ years; daughter, Lisa Hess; son, Erik Hakkinen; and sister, Betsy Galloway.
He served 3 ½ years in the U.S. Army in Germany prior to his long career as a well respected internal medicine physician in King City, Ore., and Legacy Clinic Bridgeport, affiliated with Meridian Park Hospital.
Born and raised in Alaska, he always loved the out of doors, so especially enjoyed being a part time "Ski Doc" for 24 years at Mt. Hood Meadows. Hobbies besides skiing included SCUBA diving, captaining the family ski boat, camping, reading and traveling. His favorite travel destination was Fiji, and he never missed reading the daily newspaper.
Dr.Hakkinen is fondly remembered by all, including his four grandchildren, for his ever present humor as well as his kind, compassionate, thorough treatment of his patients.
