Gwen Simpson, 94, of Tigard Oregon passed away on May 17th, 2026. Gwen was born in Chicago IL on May 6, 1932. She graduated at the top of her class at Vancouver High School in Vancouver, WA. She earned her Masters Degree in Psychology from Portland State University.
She learned to fly in high school in the Civil Air Patrol and got her pilot's license at 60. She especially loved spending time at Aurora Airport. When she wasn’t flying she enjoyed winning card games against her friends and family, doing puzzles, reading, knitting blankets for her great grandchildren, and watching Law & Order and NCIS. Gwen is survived by 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and more than 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland OR at 10:30 on May 29th.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Portland Mountain Rescue Oregon Food Bank.
