Hallie Nottingham was a wonderful wife, caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world as she slept in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the age of 91. Hallie Williams was born late in the evening of Halloween (her namesake) in October 1930 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Yakima, Washington, the only child of Mary & Wilbur Williams.
In 1949, Hallie entered Washington State College before transferring to University of Oregon a year later. While there, she pledged Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and began dating Bob Nottingham. In September of 1951, Hallie married Bob in Baltimore while he was on leave during the Korean War. Theirs was truly a love story for all time. In 2021, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They shared their lives with three daughters.
Among several hobbies, Hallie was an avid knitter; a skill she learned at age 10 from her grandmother, Belle Cheyne. Hallie continued to knit throughout her life; always having a project to work on. Hallie's other interests included golf, hiking, playing bridge, tole painting, and waterskiing in her younger years. Celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas were always looked forward to as she loved entertaining and decorating their home. In her 40's, through the OSU Extension Program, Hallie earned the title of Master Gardener. Hallie & Bob traveled to see the English Gardens, and visiting New England was always a favorite.
For the last 16 years, Bob and Hallie made their home in the Summerfield community in Tigard. Over the years they made many long-lasting friendships; some she held dearly for over half a century. Bob passed away on April 18, 2022 and just over three months later, Hallie re-joined the love of her life. Hallie and Bob are survived by their three daughters, Laurie Bute, Katie Warren, and Meg Ascher, and their five grandchildren.
