Helen H. Holbrook Raabe

She grew up in Southern Oregon region around Klamath Falls and Lakeview.

After completing her schooling at Klamath Union High, she moved to San Francisco.

She met Joe Raabe shortly after were married on July 18, 1936. Joe soon began working for Union Oil Company of California. Son, Joe Jr., was born in August 1937.

They lived in San Francisco, San Bruno and Fresno, CA. and in 1944 Joe entered the Navy. Son, Jerry, was born June of 1945.

After WWII Joe’s career started to take off and they lived in San Francisco, Modesto and Sacramento, CA and in 1951 they were transferred to Portland, Oregon. In 1954 they moved to Medford and Eugene. Later that year they returned to Portland where they lived until 1960. They then moved to Seattle and three years later returned to Portland where they remained until 1973 when Joe was moved to the corporate offices in Los Angeles remaining until his retirement in 1980. They then moved back to Oregon. They settled in Tigard at Summerfield until Joe’s passing in 1998. Helen remained in her Summerfield home until 2006 when she moved to the Summerfield Estates.

Helen was active in local golf programs at Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford, Lake Oswego, Portland Gold Club and Summerfield. She was an active golfer until she was nearly 90. She volunteered at the King City Cancer Thrift Store and was a member of various Catholic Churches everywhere she lived.

She lived a beautiful life as a corporate wife and never met a person she didn’t like. She leaves behind two sons, six grandsons and 13 great grandchildren, all of whom were able to visit her during her last full day at Meridian Park Hospital.

She will be laid to rest with Joe at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
