Jackie is survived by her three sons, Mitchell A. Hoselton of Fort Worth, TX, George H. Hoselton, Jeffrey J. Hoselton and one stepson, Mason Byles, all of Portland, OR; 12 grandchildren, 6 Hoselton and 6 Byles and 11 great-grandchildren, 2 Hoseton and 9 Byles. She hosted a Christmas party every year in her home for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will remember her for her strength, affection, kindness and love.
Jackie was born on March 6, 1929 in Madison, WI to Harold H. and Margaret T. (Hauser) Fenske. She outlived both of her sisters, “Jerry” and Joanne. She attended high school in Madison, WI. She was married to Arnold Hoselton in 1948. That marriage ended in 1968 but she learned to love again and married Elvin Byles in 1972. Jackie lost Elvin in 1992.
Jackie worked 30 years for GTE/Verizon where, having started out working split shifts as an operator in 1958, she eventually held a number of sales, supervisory and managerial positions. She won the GTE Salesman of the Year in 1975. She was respected by the people with whom she worked for her leadership and her ability to get things done. She lived in King City, OR from 1972 to 1980 and again from 1987 to 2014. She lived in La Grande, OR during the intervening years managing the GTE division that included Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington and Idaho.
She left King City for health reasons in 2014 and moved to Willamette View and in 2016 into private adult foster care only three blocks from her King City home.
She took pleasure in her garden and loved playing golf. Jackie was president of the King City Civic Association Board of Directors more than once and was pleased when the Association won the Homeowner Association of the Year Award. Jackie was also an active and dedicated member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Tigard Lions Club.
Jackie will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her well. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of both families all of whom she loved dearly, and all of her many friends will remember that she always took time out to make time for them and delighted in having experiences together that will be remembered beyond her lifetime for lifetimes to come.
