

JoAnn (Kremmel) Thompsons died at the age of 81 on Saturday May 14 in Lake Oswego as a result of complications with lung cancer and other health conditions. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her death.
JoAnn was born on October 28, 1929 in Eugene, OR to Joseph A and Sylvania M Kremmel. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Eugene High School. She attended the University of Oregon where she was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.
JoAnn married Ted Thompson June 27, 1959 and was extremely proud of their near 52 years of marriage.
She was employed for many years at Uplands Elementary school as a teacher’s aide and went on to substitute at other schools in the district. After retirement she spent her time motor-homing with her husband to various destinations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. She enjoyed a variety of sewing hobbies, most notably needle point, and took care in researching and documenting the family tree.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Ted, daughter, Sheila, son-in-law, Steve, son, David, daughter-in-law, Wendy, and 4 wonderful grandchildren, Johnny, Hailey, Trent, and Madeleine.
A memorial service will be held in Eugene at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday May 27, 2011 beginning at 12:15pm. A reception will follow. JoAnn will be inurned at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eugene with her parents and near her favorite uncle, Satolli.
The family is especially appreciative of JoAnn’s long time physician Dr. Conrad, to everyone at The Pearl at Kruse Way, and to the physicians and staff at Legacy Meridian Park Hospital.
