

JoAnn Winters passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 in her home from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She was 65 years old. JoAnn was born in Portland, Oregon to David and Freda Martin. She graduated from Tigard High School in 1965, where she met her husband of 46 years, Marvin Winters. They moved to Hillsboro Oregon in 1972, where they worked and raised their 3 children. Marvin and JoAnn worked together to run three businesses over the years. They owned and operated Winters Steel, Winters Tree Farm and Hagg’s Tree Farm.
JoAnn was known for her artistic ability and creativity. She created beautifully decorated wreaths and center pieces at Hagg’s Christmas Tree Farm. Many people looked forward to purchasing and enjoying these each year. As well as painting and drawing, she had a gift for writing. She touched others with her Christmas card poetry and her e-mails about living with ALS. She made people laugh with her Burma-Shave signs leading to the Christmas tree farm.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin; children Mindy Schwarz, Brett Winters and Sheri Spry; her 4 grandchildred; and her brother, Jack Martin.
