John Drew Hurley passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 8, 2024. John was born on August 7, 1962 in Heidelberg, Germany to Diane and Timothy J. Hurley Jr. while Tim was on assignment by RCA to the Army for the purpose of monitoring East and West German, as well as Russian troop movements during the “Cold War.” Unfortunately, his parents divorced when he was less than one year old and he and his mother returned to Greeley, Colorado.
In 1972, John and his mother settled in the Portland area. After his mother was tragically killed in an automobile accident in California, John was raised by his maternal grandparents. He graduated from Beaverton High School in 1980 and attended community college and classes at Oregon State. John worked for the Metropolitan Clinic/HealthFirst, Solar World and, most recently, Dexter Axle Parts in Wilsonville.
John was always smiling, friendly and appreciative of everything that was done with or for him. He loved electronics and enjoyed participating in robotics events, as well as going to the movies. When he was younger, he enjoyed biking and skiing.
John was predeceased by his mother Diane Herman Hurley and grandparents, Henry and Belleberta Herman. He is survived by his uncle, Dean Herman (Irene), cousins, Todd, Derek and Reid Herman as well as his second cousin, Tyler. A special thanks to Drew Lanthrum and Tim Brandon for being his best friends since middle school and for life.
