Kathy was a lifelong resident of Oregon. She went to work at PGE in their data entry department and pursued her career there by moving into customer service – eventually becoming a lead – and retiring from the position of Systems Analyst in Quality Assurance after twenty years.
After her retirement, Kathy’s joy in life was her grandchildren. She spent as much time with them as possible, and also enjoyed some trips with her family: a Hawaii vacation with her son Tony and his family (during which she spent time with some of her Facebook friends), and a Caribbean cruise. She enjoyed watching old movies (although she would sometimes have to watch them twice and try to figure out where she had gone to sleep the first time!).
Mrs. Schaffran was preceded in death by a sister, Sheri Wilhite, a brother, George Lyon, and mother, Beverly Joan Lyon.
She will be missed by her children: son Tony Schaffran and his wife Pamela of Sherwood, OR, and their children Brittany and Jamie, and daughter Leann Rice, her husband Chip of Boise, ID, and their children Matthew, Josh, and Kristen; two brothers, Don Wilhite and his wife Kelly of Estacada, OR and Vincent Lyon of Florida; an aunt, Donna Zimmerman and husband Larry of Beaverton; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life at the home of Tony and Pamela Schaffran is pending. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated by her family.
