surrounded by her family.
Kathy, born on October 13, 1944 to Alice Mertz and Henry Harguth in Montevideo, MN,
immediately brought a smile and joy into the world. She was the youngest of 5 children, her
siblings Darrell, Vern, Doug and Marilyn. Kathleen graduated from MT Diablo High School in
1962.
Kathy met Bill (Grunwald) in high school and then went on to marry in 1964. Kathy and Bill were
married for 49 years and had four children, Mary Ann (who passed away at birth), Barbara,
Stacey and Bill.
She had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up a room. All that knew Kathy loved her
smile and her happiness for life. As a wife, Kathy was a true partner and always stood by her
husband’s side through thick and thin. She was a rock for her family, providing unwavering
support and love. Kathy was a dedicated mom to all of her children, raising all three of them to
go on to accomplish great things and create beautiful families of their own. Family came first
and was above all else to Kathy, a value she instilled in all those around her. Kathy taught her
children the value of hard work and the importance of treating others with kindness. Kathy was
also a thoughtful and caring friend. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.
Kathy is survived by her sister Marilyn Belanger; children, Barbara Pollinger, Stacey Poirier, and
Bill Grunwald; and grandchildren, Jae, Hannah, Bryan and Katelynn.
There will be a catholic funeral service 11:30 AM on Friday, January 13th, at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church 9905 SW McKenzie St. Tigard, OR 97223.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kathy Grunwald’s name to a charity for
