Obituary of Kenneth James Smith

Kenneth James Smith, age 69, of King City, Oregon, passed away on September 4, 2025. He was born to the late Kenneth Reid Smith and Janice Wesley Price.

He is survived by his loving significant other, Estella Fernandez; his daughters Erica Rachael Smith (39), Nicole Marie Baty (34) and her husband Greg Baty, and Abigale Lynne Prater (27) and her husband Keith Prater; and his son Tyler Pierce Smith (31) and his wife Kristi Smith.

He was also a proud stepfather to Stephanie De Mars and her husband Andy De Mars.

He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Navy Mae Baty (3), Everlee Grace Baty (2), Kingston Krue Prater (1), and Quintin Joshua Saucedo (10). He was also blessed with step-grandchildren Annabelle Elena De Mars (13) and Andrew Walter De Mars Jr. (11).

He is further survived by his siblings Dawn Smith Nelson, Rebecca Howland, Tonya Farber, and Tyrone Hanks.

Kenneth dedicated most of his career to serving as a social worker for children, where his compassion and commitment touched countless lives. He also spent years coaching basketball, inspiring kids on and off the court. Outside of work, he loved hunting and fishing, passions that brought him peace and joy. Known by many as the “pallet king,” he had a knack for hard work, creativity, and making something special out of anything he put his hands to. Above all, he was the most amazing Papa, and his family was his greatest pride.

He will be remembered for his selfless heart, love for family, and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at 15245 SW 116th Avenue, King City, Oregon 97224.
