Linda Louise Pietila, born June 17, 1947 in Tigard, Oregon, died peacefully in her sleep -- also in Tigard -- on September 12, 2025. Linda graduated from University of Oregon with a BA in History and a Masters in Library Sciences. She moved to Bend, Oregon, where she worked first at Bend High School Library before being given responsibility for the new Mountain View High School -- including ordering all books. She took it upon herself to stay up-to-date with changes in library protocols by attending conferences and workshops in the summers.
Linda loved Bend, with its mountains and skiing. Among her many friends she counted her husky, whom she called "her sweet wonder-dog Katie." She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed camaraderie (sometimes involving pranks) with students as well as teachers.
Linda was a sports enthusiast. When she was able she would travel to eastern cities to attend the theater and major league games.
After retiring, she returned to Tigard, her beloved hometown, where she became a companion to her mother, Elva, in her final days.
Linda had friends who valued her sweet disposition and wry sense of humor. They will miss her laughter. She is survived by her sister, Dianne in San Diego, her grandson Sean and his 5 children in Denver.
