Jerry Linda Self was born on March 30, 1948 in Oakland, CA., daughter of Gertrude Lois Reid (Cozzi) and Floyd Self. Her father died when she was very young, and she was adopted by her loving stepfather, William Frank Cozzi, the only dad she ever knew. She has an elder sister, Betty Jo Rieske, an elder brother, Leland Self and a younger brother, William Keith Cozzi, now deceased.
Linda attended Dos Palos High School, where she was valedictorian of her senior class. She went on to study at Fresno State University.
In 1967, Linda married Glen Edman. They were blessed with a son, Jeffrey David Edman and in 1971 with a daughter, Lisa Marie Edman (Lamote). Linda lived and worked in California until 1980, when she and her children moved to Portland, Oregon. There she fell in love with the amazing Pacific Northwest and lived there for the rest of her life. She worked at a law practice in Portland for more than 30 years.
Linda had a wonderful sense of humor and an effervescent personality that allowed her to make friends wherever she went. She was an avid reader, devouring 2-3 books a week. She loved traveling and took every opportunity to do so, especially Hawaii, Mexico, and Europe. She enjoyed good food, great wine, and laughter.
But more than anything, Linda loved spending time with family and friends. None more so than her son, Jeff and his family in California and her daughter Lisa and her family in Belgium. She was for many years a parishioner at St. Francis, Sherwood.
Linda was a loyal friend, a kind and joyful soul, an outstanding mother, and the world’s most devoted grandmother, a role she was born to play. Hers was a life well-lived, which touched so many others, bringing light, love and laughter. This is how she will be remembered always.
Linda is survived by her beloved son and reading companion, Jeffrey Edman, her daughter and best girlfriend, Lisa Edman Lamote, and the four greatest treasures of her heart, grandkids Nichola William Lamote, Etienne Jeffrey Lamote, William Reid Edman and Chloe Nicole Wagner. May she forever watch over them and keep them safe.
