

Lucille was raised in Winterport, Maine and attended Winterport High School. After leaving school Lucille was employed as a seamstress, sewing shirts for the Army. She then went to work at Lipman’s Department Store in the toy division. While working at Lipman’s she met a young man, recently honorably discharged from the Navy, named Wayne Lawrence who worked in the paint department. On July 4, 1948 the couple was married. Wayne and Lucille moved to Michigan In search of better employment and resided there for two years before heading further west and settling in Portland.
Wayne went to work for the railroad and Lucille went to work at home raising their two children, David and Diane. She knew the meaning of a clean house. Lucille loved to cook and feed everyone, even the squirrels in the backyard. She enjoyed family trips to Lake Crescent and marathon road trips cross country for annual family reunions in Maine. Lucille enjoyed league bowling, reading, playing cards and was a long time member of West Portland United Methodist Church. Babies and children held a special place in her heart and she was blessed with the opportunity to spend time with her five grandchildren. Wayne passed away in 1991 and a few years later Lucille went to live with her daughter, Diane. In 1998 she embarked on her dream vacation to Ireland as well as enjoying an Alaskan Cruise two years later.
Lucille will be remembered by her daughter, Diane (Dan) Lorenzen of Portland; son, David (Liane) Lawrence of Portland; grandchildren, Kristen Lawrence of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ryan Lawrence, Alyssa Lawrence, Darren Lorenzen, and Devin Lorenzen, all of Portland; two great-grandchildren Kaylinn and Braxton of Phoenix, Arizona as well as a large extended family.
Private services will be held for Lucille. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Wayne, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
