In the company of her husband and son, Margaret (Penny) passed away at home in the early morning of Wednesday, March 10, 2021, after a difficult, years-long illness. She had recently been enrolled in a home hospice program to ensure that she was provided with as much comforting care as possible as her life came to a close.
Penny was born March 15, 1945, in New Haven, CT. She was deeply loved by her family and others who knew her well. She is survived by her husband James and her son Brendan (both living in Tigard, OR), and her daughter and son-in-law, Emily Zabroski and Brian Zabroski of Denver, CO, as well as two young grandsons, Brady and Crosby Zabroski. Her two sisters Alexandra Ogsbury and Lucy Horton also live in Colorado.
She was known for her compassion, her intellect and her beauty. Over the years she devoted nearly all her time to caring for her family and their home, all the while demonstrating her love. She treated everyone with respect and taught her children to be thoughtful, well-mannered and considerate. She was a woman of substance who preferred to be in the background and help others.
Penny was a terrific mom who was adored not only by her own children, but also by her children’s friends. She always remembered everyone’s special occasions with cards and calls and gifts. She was an expert at organizing and managing. For example, she deftly oversaw the family’s household moves to Washington, D.C., Albuquerque, NM, Denver, Houston, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, and Tigard, OR.
Her life was not without troubles. But she always drew upon her incredible strength to overcome adversity. She is so profoundly missed.
