

Mary Ann Swinford, 85, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, passed away on November 26, 2015. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on December 15, 1929, sister of the late Lucile Polhemus of Plano, Texas, daughter of Merle T. and Hazel Waggoner of Wichita Falls. A graduate of Southern Methodist University, she was the widow of the late James Carroll (Jake) Swinford, whom she married on May 24th, 1952, and to whom she remained married until his passing in July of 2005.
Mary Ann was an active and beloved member of her Lake Oswego community, having belonged to and often served as a leader in a large number of organizations, including the Oswego Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Tri-Delta sorority, the Lakewood Center Associates (of whom she was a founding member), the Eastern Star, the Altar Guild of the Christ Episcopal Church, and the board of the Lakewood Center for the Arts.
She is survived by her sons John Clifton and Clark Hunter Swinford, their wives Maria and Amanda, her grandchildren James Clifton, Richard Hunter, Carlos Miguel, Ana Isobel, and Federico Xavier, and great-grandchildren Chrizelle Ann, Shawn Anthony, Vincent Gabriel, and Sophia Louise.
A memorial will be held at 4:30 PM on Sunday, December 6th, in the Community Meeting Room of the Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 South State Street, Lake Oswego. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a gift to the Lakewood Center's capital campaign.
