I hadn't seen Swede in years, but he's just one of those people you google because he was such an influential person in your life. Pretty sad now to find he passed away some 3 years ago. 

But I'm glad I looked. I'm nearly 50 myself, and in that time I don't think I've ever met a more unrelentingly positive person. I can still hear his cheerful, energetic voice just like he were right in the room, talking about a deal he made. Probably clear out in Scappoose. It was nice to hear that voice again. 


Swede, you will be greatly missed. You were a guy i looked up to when we worked together at ISS. You were always so happy and energetic.

In 1971-72, I moved into a duplex at 70th & NE Glisan. Swede back then ran Swede's Auto Parts on 69th & Glisan, and it's there that I met him. He was a great person and wonderful human being. He was also a Royal Rosarian. Swede would do anything for anyone if they needed help. Back then he was meeting for lunch at that coffee shop on 82nd kitty corner from Elmers, by about a block south, on the East side of 82nd,where I would also meet him & the boys for lunch. I remember at one of those lunches, Swede was complaining about Jimmy Carter, then US Pres. Swede said, name me one good thing Carter has done, just one. I replied, he got Goldschmidt out of Portland. Swede thought for a second, then burst out laughing! Over the years I lost track of him, but his memories will always remain in my memory.

I remember breakfasts at Elmer's on 82nd with Swede, Eddie and the guys. All the tall tales and pranks they talked about, especially the ones he pulled on my mom, Bernice. You will be missed.

Some of my best memories are of spending my Saturdays and vacations at the parts store with Swede, Eddie and my dad, David. He was like my uncle and I will miss him greatly. I will always love him! Rest in love.

Well he almost made it to 100 but not quite. I'm gonna make it to 100. At least now you are with Joanie!

Swede was a one-of-kind. A truly nice guy, who loved to make a deal, but loved to help out people even more. No one else I know had as many irons in the fire as Swede, and that was after he reached the age when most people retire! That man had energy! To know him is to love him. I am so glad I knew him, and, I am thankful for his friendship. His passing is sad, but you just can't stay sad long because thinking of Swede brings up all sorts of wonderful memories. Truly a life well lived!

Swede was such a character. I worked with him for many years at ISS and he always had a smile for "the girls working in the typing pool" as he would call those of us working in accounting and HR. He was always so sunny and had a good story to tell. He will be missed by all.

Worked with Swede at ISS for 22 years.  He taught me so much.  Very kind and thoughtful man.  "It's all about the attitude."
