

When his father’s WWII commitment to the Army was completed they moved back to Oregon where Nick was raised in Corvallis, Oregon.
After graduating from Corvallis High School in 1961, Nick joined the U. S. Air Force in 1962 and served as a Mace missile launch crew member in Germany from 1963 through 1966 attaining the rank of Airman 1st Class. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Oregon where he attended Linn Community College and Oregon State University. He moved to Portland in 1970 where he embarked on a career in building materials and worked for various building supply businesses in the Portland area. He attended Portland Community College earning an A.A.S. degree in Building Construction Management in 1990 and worked as a Building Manager supporting a General Motors call center.
Nick enjoyed biking, boating/water skiing and restoring collectable automobiles. Some of his greatest joys were camping, planning and leading car tours, dressing up for Halloween parties and volunteering to judge at car shows or youth robot competitions. He was a member of The Early Ford V-8 Club of America, the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, The Corvallis Historic Auto Club, The Portland Skyliners Tall Club and an active member of the Mace/Matador Missileers (an Air Force veterans association).
Nick is survived by his mother; Trinette of Beaverton, his sister Judy and her husband Gary Shoepe of Portland, and by his brother Jerry and his wife Tery Nicholson of Middleton, ID., 4 nephews, 1 niece, and 5 grand nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Alvin F. Nicholson Sr.
A military Interment ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland will be held at 10:00 a.m. December 23, 2015. A memorial service at Young’s Funeral Home (11831 SW Pacific Hwy, Tigard, OR) will also be on December 23rd at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception and fellowship time at the American Legion Hall at 8635 SW Scoffins St, Tigard, OR 97223.
