With hearts full of gratitude and humility, we honor the life and heavenly transition of Pamela Marguerite Parkhurst (nee Peters), who was lovingly welcomed into the arms of our Savior on May 20, 2024 in Portland OR. Born on Dec. 17, 1953, she is the cherished daughter of Walter and Shirlee Peters and her bio-dad, Donn Glenn Harris.
She graduated from Lewis & Cark College specializing in Childhood Education, and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, Sigma Omega Chapter.
Pamela, affectionately known as “Spanky” or “Bambi”, was a talented musician who played the piano, flute, clarinet and guitar. She truly had the voice of an angel, and an unmatched ear for harmony. She enjoyed singing in church, and with Top 40 bands Hot Shot and Rumour in the local clubs, and of course while canning in the kitchen and tending to her garden.
She was a radiant reflection of God’s love in this world, and her strong faith in the Lord was a testimony and source of comfort to her family. Some of her favorite Bible verses were Psalm 91, and Isaiah 41:10.
Everyone fortunate enough to cross her path will remember her for her open and loving heart. A common phrase from her lips was “Mi casa es su casa”.She believed her heart and her home were one and the same place. Those who visited her earthly abode left with arms full of gifts from her garden and labors of love from her kitchen.
Pamela’s legacy is carried forward by her beloved spouse Martin Parkhurst; her daughters Adrienne Newman and Emily Newman; her bonus daughter Jenny Jones; her bonus son Jason Parkhurst; and bonus mom Betsy Harris. She now joins the heavenly choir alongside her adopted father Walter, her biological father Donn Glenn, her mother Shirlee, and her sister Eileen Scott, who preceded her in passing.
