

On August 26th, Paul Juergen Oswald, passed away surrounded by family/peacefully at the age of 83. Juergen was born May 4, 1938 to Ernst Paul Oswald and Hertha Reppe Oswald in Pulsnitz, Germany. He earned his Master Craftsman certificate in painting where he worked as a residential and commercial painter for over 40 years in Germany, Canada, and the US until his retirement. Juergen immigrated to Canada in 1967 and eventually settled in the US in 1974 where he started his family in Portland, Oregon. Juergen had a passion for adventure and the arts. An avid mountaineer, skier and rafter, he has traversed terrain and rivers all over the world, even passing the love of the outdoors to his sons. He was a faithful supporter of classical music radio, the opera, and many nature and animal rights organizations. He was a long-time member of the Oregon Whitewater Association, Oregon Nordic Club, the German American Society and the The Liedertafel Harmonie (German Singing Society) in Portland. Juergen is survived by his sons, Andreas (Colleen Mulligan) Oswald and Stefan (Andrea) Oswald, grandchildren, Anneliese Oswald and Liesel and Arno Oswald, brother Klaus (Gisela) Oswald, niece Janin (Jens) Stephan, and great-nephew Marwin Stephan. His love for adventure, family, and friends will be missed
