Robert Edward Robbins

Robert Edward Robbins, age 82, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was born in Chico, California, on March 13, 1936, to Leslie Robbins and Anne Stewardson. As a boy he lived for a time in Halfway, Oregon, before moving to Silverton where he graduated from Silverton High School. Married to Beatrice Jean Davis for more than 63 years, he was preceded in death by her by only nine days. Jean passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Bob and Jean first lived in Silverton, Oregon, before moving to Washington, where they raised their children, first in Renton and later in Kent. After their children were grown, they moved to Auburn, where they spent their retirement years before moving for a brief time to Portland, Oregon, to live with their younger daughter. For many years they wintered in their fifth wheeler in Parker Dam, California. Bob was a lifetime employee of Boeing. Starting at the bottom, he rose to be a General Manager in the Sheet Metal Center at Boeing Fabrication Division, before retiring in 1992. Bob was an avid golfer and Huskies and Seattle sports fan. He took great pride as a gardener in developing and maintaining his prized half-acre in Auburn. He also was a passionate woodworker, making countless pieces of furniture, toys and other items in his beloved shop. He is survived by six children, including Denise Stone of Benton City, WA; Ronald Robbins of Kent, WA; Michael Robbins of Sumner, WA; Kimberly Kenyon of Portland, OR; Robert Robbins of Puyallup, WA; and Christopher Robbins of Enumclaw, WA; fifteen grandchildren, four great-children, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He is also survived by one step-sister, Judy Simmons of Aloha, Oregon. One sister, Anita Zitterich, preceded him in death. A joint funeral service for Bob and Jean will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 20, 2018, at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 5105 SW Franklin Ave., Beaverton, Oregon. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the funeral service and reception to follow. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, Washington.
