

Rose Marie (Maree) Turner passed away peacefully on July 5,2025. She was born on January 25, 1926 in Portland, Oregon to Finnish immigrants, the only child of Toivo and Hilma (Mannenen) Haikka. The first language Rose learned was Finnish since that is all her mother spoke. Her father had to help translate her 1st year in school.
She was raised in the Finnish community all her life. Rose was baptized, confirmed and married in the Finnish congregational church. She was a graduate of Jefferson high school in Portland. In 1947 Maree married the love of her life Tom Turner in the Finnish church. They were married for 66 years before his passing in 2013. Together they had 4 children; Linda Morris, Karen Fresn, Gary (Diane)Turner and Suzy (Scott) Bradley.
Maree devoted her life as a stay at home mom to her family. She was involved as a 4H leader and bluebird leader. Along with being a guardian of Mt. hood Jobs Daughter’s Bethel #5. She also spent many hours volunteering at the Portland Shriner’s hospital. Maree loved getting together with the neighbors for coffee and teaching them to knit.
The family always had a second home in Cannon Beach where they spent much of their time during the summer. Maree and her husband loved to travel. They went to Hawaii for their 25th anniversary and ended up going every year after for almost 40 years. They loved to travel and take cruise’s to places like going thru the Panama Canal or visiting other great countries. She was also able to take her 2 youngest children, along with her father, to visit and meet family in Finland. At 99 years old she has outlived almost all of her dear friends but she does leave behind her, 4 loving children; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and a niece and nephew and their families.
A graveside service for Rose will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, OR 97086.
