Sally Jane (Foskett) Light was born Feb 17, 1928 in Pasco Washington, the second child of Dr. Harold Stevenson Foskett and Lucille Elizabeth (Brown) Foskett. She died of gall bladder cancer, while surrounded by her children in her home in Tigard Oregon on March 11, 2015.
Sally attended high school in Ritzville, Washington. When WWII broke out, the family moved to Spokane. While in Spokane, she graduated from high school and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Idaho in 1949. In 1951 she received a Master’s degree in Retailing from Simmons College in Boston, MA. She met her future husband, Harold Light, while attending Allied Training School in Manhattan. Harold and Sally were married in Portland, OR in 1954. They began their family in Portland, eventually settling in Tigard, OR.
They raised seven children and instilled in them the love that they shared for each other. They passed on to their children a love of life, full of outdoor adventures and a lifelong quest for learning. They travelled the world enjoying new experiences, new cultures and meeting new friends. Sally enjoyed golfing and skiing, and especially loved beach combing.
Sally’s love for her family and friends was endless. She had a special place in her heart for children and they were blessed with her exceptional kind of love. She had a unique way of making everyone feel special. We will miss her quiet manner, her inner strength and especially the love she so generously share with everyone.
