A proud graduate of Heald College, Tim pursued his education with dedication and carried that same commitment into every aspect of his life. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with distinction. Tim was honored to be part of the Tiger Team—a select group of recruits from Michigan whose exceptional test scores earned them the privilege of being sworn in at Tiger Stadium. His time in the Navy was a source of pride and shaped his lifelong dedication to supporting fellow veterans.
Tim’s interests were as vibrant and varied as his personality. A lover of gaming and medieval reenactments, he immersed himself in hobbies such as Dungeons and Dragons, miniature painting, attending conventions, crafting armor, and collecting weaponry. His enthusiasm for pirates and historical adventures brought joy not only to himself but also to those who shared these passions with him. Tim’s creativity and zest for life extended beyond hobbies; he was an active member of the American Legion and found purpose in looking out for others within his community.
Known for his kind heart and larger-than-life presence, Tim had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He “collected people like others collect stamps,” forming bonds that enriched both his life and the lives of those around him. Whether offering support to fellow veterans or providing companionship to those without family nearby, Tim’s generosity knew no bounds. To many who knew him, he was a giant teddy bear—someone who could be counted on for warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness.
Tim is survived by his beloved daughter Shayleen; his cherished grandchildren David and Olivia; his mother Kathleen of Michigan; his brother Sean of Washington; his half-brother Ricky of California; his nephew Henry; and countless friends whose lives he touched deeply. He was predeceased by his father Jack Troupe.
Tim’s legacy is one of compassion, camaraderie, and an enduring sense of adventure. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
May those who loved him find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into their lives. A Memorial Service will be held on May 26, 2026, from 02:30 PM to 03:00 PM at Willamette National Cemetery (11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Happy Valley, OR), immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post 150 (8329 SE 89th Ave., Portland, OR) at 03:15 PM. Light refreshments provided.
