

Viola Ann “Tootsie” Groth (Tigard, OR) went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the age of 79 years. Cause of death cardiac complications. She will be missed dearly by her family, but we share in the joy and freedom she is experiencing at Jesus' side. Viola was born on September 08, 1934, to Peter Francis Tandle and Mary Elizabeth Tucceri-Tandle in Geneva, New York. She had four siblings, Ray Tandle, Lou Tandle, Thomas Tandle and Norma Tandle-Smith. Her family moved to Michigan and Viola graduated from Ecorse High School. As a young adult, she moved with her family to Arizona, where she met a baseball player and bowler named Richard Groth. Richard (Dick) Groth and Viola were married on December 21, 1957 in Yuma, Arizona. Dick & Vi pursued education and employment in the states of Arizona and Washington. They happily raised their three children in Arizona, before relocating to Newport, Oregon in 1981. Dick and Vi eventually both retired, first in Newport and later moved to Tigard, Oregon. In retirement, Vi enjoyed playing cards, reading, baking, dining out, and doting on her grand and great –grandchildren. She is fondly remembered by her friends and extended family as a cheerful and happy person, a great cook, a wonderful mom, friend and spiritual counselor. A spunky woman who gave direct, but loving guidance to her family and friends, her beautiful heart for God and passion for His people and house touched many lives. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Groth (Tigard, OR),daughter Vicki Hammond (Tigard, OR),Son Rick & Jeanette Groth (Tucson, AZ), son Jeffrey & Cynthia Groth (Tualatin, OR), grandchildren, Dominic Groth, Anthony Groth, Steven & Kaylee Hammond, Marcus & Hannah Hammond, Brogan Groth, Weston Groth, and Mataya Groth and great-grandchildren, Arianna, Ezekiel, & Aidan. Vi’s Graduation to Heaven Ceremony, a memorial celebration, will be held Saturday, February 2nd, 11:00am at Faith Journey Church. Located at 11265 SW Gaarde St, Tigard, OR (503) 639-5336.
Reception with light refreshments will be provided. The family encourages you to reconnect with friends by going out to lunch after the Ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that funds be sent to Young's Funeral Home, made payable to Richard Groth in honor of Viola Groth.Thank you to those that offered prayers, and support during her final days. The love felt by Mom, and all of us, was a testament to the Love of God. Even though we miss her, we have the hope of all that believe.
