Wanda met Donald Bruce Baxter while attending school in Warrensburg Missouri, soon after they fell in love and married in Kansas City. Together, Wanda and Donald raised four children, Gregory, Ronda, Robin and David. Through out the years they moved to many different states and countries, whenever they would move to a new house Wanda’s first priority was to find their local church. Wanda’s faith was a big part of her life, through out the 34 years she attended Portland Christian Center she taught Sunday school, helped run the children's Christmas program, assisted in the nursery, attended bible study every Wednesday, and helped run the kitchen cooking for different church events.
After moving around as a military family, Wanda and Donald settled in Tigard to be closer to family, they lived there for 39 years. Besides being a full time mother to four children, Wanda held various office jobs through out the years. She was always trying to find things to keep her busy, while living in Wiesbaden, Germany she took a cake decorating class and next thing you know, she was making fancy intricate cakes for each child on their birthday. Bowling took up a lot of her time and she had a true passion for the WIBC. During her over 35 years bowling, she won bowling Champion of the entire State of Maine in 1968 and 1969. You could find her at the bowling alley every Saturday morning as an instructor, she spent a lot of time teaching children and donated many bowling balls to help support them. Wanda was in a traveling league, she went to Nationals every year and was even the WIBC Secretary for over 25 years. She also loved bowling with her daughters, they loved spending that time together. Wanda was extremely giving and had a big heart, she was thoughtful and would even make beautiful handmade cards to donate to foster children to make sure they had a special card on their birthday. She was a proud Grandma and Great-Grandma to 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, she considered them her biggest gift in life and was so very proud of them.
