October 18, 1949 – May 20,2026
William “Bill” Shelton, Jr., husband, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Butte, Montana, on October 18, 1949, Bill was the second of seven children born to Bill and Dorothy Shelton. He spent his formative years in the Pacific Northwest graduating from Chief Sealth High School in Seattle, Washington in 1968.
Bill‘s first job was with Boeing in Seattle. When Bill‘s family transferred to Los Angeles, California, Bill relocated with them and started a dedicated 17 year career working alongside his father at Texaco, Inc. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Linda. The two were married on June 27, 1981, beginning a long devoted marriage of nearly 45 years.
In 1985, Bill retired from Texaco due to ongoing health issues which he courageously faced throughout his life. Seeking to be closer to his parents and extended family, Bill and Linda moved to Oregon in 1986. Together, they built a peaceful life in Tigard where they were longtime faithful parishioners of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Bill was an avid sports fan who loved to bowl and fiercely loved the Portland Trailblazers and the Oregon Ducks. Over the years, he collected NBA trading cards along with his prized collection of vintage Texaco toy trucks and airplanes. Bill and Linda also enjoyed taking trips to the casino to try their luck at the penny slot machines!
Linda wants Bill to be remembered for his positive attitude and his infectious big smile that instantly brightened any room!
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Shelton, and sisters, Janice (Rostal) and Mary (Umphress). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda; his siblings Dona Worsley (Bob), Dorothy Hatala (Mark ), Dan Shelton (Theresa), and Susanne Walter (Steve); as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
