Abby was born in Cincinnati in 1996 and lived in West Chester, Ohio until her family moved to Sparks, MD in 2000. Always full of energy and constantly on the move, her vibrant childhood included both a curiosity for nature and a growing love of reptiles. She attended Hereford High School with studies focused on STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and math). She went on to earn a degree in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University in Philadelphia and was a member of the Society of Women Engineers and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. In college, she played co-ed flag football and was an avid Villanova basketball fan.
Upon graduating, Abby joined De Nora, a global technology company and worked there as an Applications Engineer. Her specialty was water treatment and purification, designing large scale systems for commercial and municipal water systems. She became an expert in ozonation technology and made presentations at industry events.
Abby ‘s childhood passion for nature stayed with her throughout her life. Over the years, her home hosted many fascinating cold-blooded friends, including tree frogs, leopard geckos, and a hog nosed snake. She loved connecting with fellow animal enthusiasts in various reptile groups, visiting the reptile houses at zoos and watching documentaries about reptiles and animals and nature in general.
Abby loved to travel and visited Italy several times on vacation and on business trips to her company’s headquarters. Favorite places include Avalon NJ, Bethany Beach DE, and New Orleans LA. Wherever she traveled, she loved to go on ghost tours and Halloween was a favorite time of year. At home, picking out new recipes and cooking with family were regular and joyful times.
Abby preferred to stay out of the spotlight, but her sharp sense of humor always filled the room and made those around her smile. She was a truly fun person to be around and held her family above everything else. Her intelligence, humor, and unforgettable personality will be cherished forever.
Abby is lovingly survived by mother Kerri Momorella, father Jim Momorella, and stepmother Laura Momorella; dear sister of Carly Green and Megan Momorella; and cherished granddaughter of Joan Short.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier, 13717 Cuba Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21030 on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 11AM.
