

Coleman, Agnes P. Agnes P. Coleman after a brief illness passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, at the age of 94; Agnes was formally of Norfolk residing in Timonium, MD. Agnes will be remembered with love and affection by her family and friends. Agnes was born on Chincoteague Island, VA the daughter of the late Daniel James Pettit and Hallie Jester Pettit. She grew up in Sign Post, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and was a graduate of Beacon College in Wilmington, DE. With her Navy husband she lived in Lewes, DE, San Diego, CA, Honolulu, Hawaii, San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA, and Corpus Christi, TX before coming to Norfolk in 1947. Agnes was a member of many organizations and churches. She was a member of the Sign Post United Methodist Church in Sign Post, VA and an associate member of Miles Memorial United Methodist Church in Norfolk. She was a member of Unit 60, Ocean View, Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association for more than 50 years and was Past Regional President, East Coast, of that organization. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3160, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 327, a member of the P.T. Boats, and a member of the Ocean View Democratic and Social Club. Agnes was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and a member of Chapter 2 of the Pearl Harbor Survivor’s Association. Agnes was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Agnes was preceded in death by her husband William J. “Red” Coleman; her daughter Mary Jane Coleman; Her sisters Ethel P. Chesser and Frances P. Rainbolt. Her brothers Arthur and Thomas Pettit. Agnes is survived by her loving son Dan Coleman and his wife Sandy of Timonium, MD; Dear sisters Joyce P. Caulk of Easton, MD, Geraldine P. Bowden of Newport News, VA; Beloved brother Edwin Henry Pettit of DE; Cherished grandmother of Suzi Ducker of Los Angeles, Laura Lackten of Corona, CA and Brendan and Devin Coleman of Timonium, MD. The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday November 4 from 12 to 1PM at which time a funeral service will be celebrated.
