Anne Mary “Vera” Cunane, born 9/5/41 in Ballyfarnon, Ireland, grew to adulthood in the County of Roscommon before moving to the United States 3/18/67. True to her strong Catholic faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Vera chose “Mary”land to be her new home. Imbued with incredible friendliness, warmth, and generosity, she acquired many Maryland friends who became her new family, but she never lost her love for all things Irish, her strong Irish brogue, her immediate willingness to help whenever she saw a need and her love for Irish football.
Upon arriving in Maryland, Vera first shared her domestic and caregiver talents as an employee in private homes in Baltimore City and County, settled in Cockeysville area, became a 34-year employee of new Hunt Valley Inn’s banquet kitchen in its earliest days of operation and ended her employment years in 2012 in the kitchen at Stella Maris in Timonium. She joined St Joseph Church and participated in many religious, charitable, and social activities, especially pro-life work and was always ready to drive her senior nun friends or others wherever they wanted or needed to go with many miles of Rosaries said and Irish music enjoyed on the trips.
Vera was predeceased by parents James Patrick and Mary Ellen Fallon Cunane, sister Margaret, infant brother Patrick and many other relatives. Surviving relatives in Ireland are loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, plus several long-time very devoted friends. During her years in Maryland, Vera found a very special place in the hearts and homes of several families and, along with many other friends in Ireland or the U.S.A. will be greatly missed.
