Barbara L. Ziegler

Barbara L. Ziegler, 87, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. A woman of joyful spirit and steady dedication, she lived life to the fullest and found immense delight in both her life’s work and her personal adventures.

Barbara dedicated many years of service working as an Purchasing Administration Secretary at the Corporate offices of McCormick and Company, where her hard work and reliable presence were deeply valued until her retirement.

An avid traveler, Barbara loved exploring new places, with a special fondness for her trips across Europe. Her journey to Switzerland always held a uniquely treasured spot in her heart. Whenever she traveled, either with friends or family, she immersed herself completely in the history, culture, and beauty of every destination.

At home, Barbara was equally vibrant and creative. As a member of a large family, there was always something happening, from dancing and singing to card playing, family events and her personal hobbies. She was an avid crafter, doing crocheting and needle point with her sister Fran and the girls at her Tea Tatble at work. She loved to dance especially, the jitterbug and tap dancing and enjoyed participating in local talent shows with other family members with T. Oliver Hughes at the Collegian Club in Northwest Baltimore during the Fifties.

Above all else, Barbara enjoyed her family tremendously. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with those she loved, whether sharing stories over a friendly game of cards or enjoying a great meal together. She appreciated life's culinary treats, from a great Maryland crab cake, creamed chipped beef on toast for breakfast, and a classic hot turkey dinner. Whether dining out at the Pepper Mill, Milton Inn, Libertorie’s or grabbing a favorite bite at the Bel-Loc, Double TT, Denny’s or McDonald’s, it was always the company and conversation she cherished most. Her twin sister, Fran and sister Jackie traveled the many local eatery’s as a daily treat.

Her warmth, enthusiasm, and deep love for her family and friends will be forever remembered and deeply missed.

Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Albert S. and Anna B. Ziegler; devoted sister of Jacqueline Hough, Diane Swanner and her husband Bill and the late Joseph Ziegler, Carol Ann Ziegler, Jerome Ziegler, Marcy Bryan, Wayne Ziegler, and Frances Freedy, devoted aunt of Stephanie, Richard, Robert, Mathew, Suzanne, John, Brian, Keith, Juliann, Greg, Colleen, Robyn, Karen, Holly, Tom, and the late Joseph and Kurt. Ziegler, her sister-in-law, Verna Ziegler. She is survived by many nieces nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. They all had a special place in her heart.

The family will receive friends at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 3 to 7pm.

Barbara’s life will be celebrated at the funeral home on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
